Don't Wait To Go Solar

The electricity bills never stop

For most of us who haven’t yet gone solar, we know what it’s like every month to check our mail or inbox and see another bill from the utility company. Every year we watch as electricity rates go up 7–10% even though we are basically using the same amount of electricity. Utility companies claim that they have to make routine repairs, updates, etc. to existing equipment and pass those increases onto the customer . . . permanently!

It seems inescapable. What else can we do? As long as we pull our electricity from the grid, we will be subject to these annual price increases. And no matter how long we pay them for, we will never own a piece of the utility company. Well, if you are a homeowner, I do have good news for you. Due to the...

Holiday Half Marathon Charity Run

Posted on Dec 29, 2017

On Saturday, December 19, 2017, seven runners representing Green Solar Technologies gathered at the Main Plaza of the Fairgrounds at Fairplex in Pomona, California to contribute to “Holiday Half Marathon & 5K Ugly Sweater Run.” The goal of this annual charity run is to raise awareness for various organizations making a difference in the lives of children. This year, funds were raised for Marine Toys For Tots Foundation (dedicated to providing toys to underprivileged children) and Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (dedicated to the various rehabilitative needs of children). Not a stranger to charity for children’s hospitals, Green Solar Technologies has also donated $25,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital earlier this year. Green Solar Technologies looks forward to getting involved in more charity work in 2018. To learn more about GST, or to get a solar quote click...

A Tale of Two Subsidies

Posted on Oct 27, 2017

This week, Administrator Scott Pruitt of the Environmental Protection Agency expressed his clear opposition toward the federal tax credits currently in place for the renewable energy industry with these harrowing words: “I would do away with these incentives that we give to wind and solar.” He continued, “I’d let them stand on their own and compete against coal and natural gas and other sources, and let utilities make real-time market decisions on those types of things as opposed to being propped up by tax incentives and other types of credits that occur, both in the federal level and state level.” This kind of technology-resistant talk comes as no surprise to those who have been paying attention to the federal government’s involvement in support of energy resources over the past century. Coal, natural gas, and oil have been practically the sole...

Solar Import Conflict Awaits Resolution

Posted on Oct 16, 2017

As the struggle continues for the American solar industry to come to an agreement regarding the devastating economic effects of dumping from foreign companies, two U.S. manufacturers are easing their requests for penalties in hopes to strike a resolution. As an alternative to imposing import solar tariffs, SolarWorld and Suniva are now proposing a licensing fee for all solar imports to balance the pricing competition. This conflict has risen out of urgency for American solar manufacturers and installers competing in the local market against outside companies. The concern American-based solar companies have is competing for business within their own country against the unrealistic pricing of solar imports. Because of U.S. wage laws, work environment requirements, quality control initiatives, and the safekeeping of product warranties with every solar power...
