Green Solar Technologies would like to take a moment to remember Guy Sella, the man behind SolarEdge—an innovative solar power harvesting and monitoring solutions company which has provided inverters for many of our solar panel system installations over the years.
SolarEdge Technologies announced in a public statement recently that the company's founder and co-chairman had passed away.
“It is with a very heavy and sad heart that we notify of the passing of our dear friend and inspiration, Guy Sella. All of us who had the privilege to work with Guy and be witness to his unwavering drive and infinite levels of energy and passion for what he did know what a huge loss this is, not only to SolarEdge. Guy has left an incredible legacy and his spirit will live on forever in SolarEdge. The entire SolarEdge family mourns his loss. On behalf of our Board of Directors, management team and employees, we extend our deepest sympathies to Guy’s family.”
It was in November 2017 SolarEdge announced that Sella had been diagnosed with colon cancer. At the time, Sella stated “This is yet another hurdle for me to overcome and I am confident that with everyone’s support and good wishes, I will do just that.”
He remained highly productive with SolarEdge until last week when SolarEdge released a statement that Sella’s “previously disclosed health condition has declined significantly” and that he would be taking a leave of absence, effective immediately, “to address his health issues.” Since then, Zvi Lando has been serving as CEO for the company.
Guy Sella had served in the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Corps technology unity before partnering at the Star Ventures venture capital fund. He left to create SolarEdge in 2006. To this day, countless solar installers and contractors such as Green Solar Technologies carry on his legacy by not only installing SolarEdge inverters to help convert DC energy to AC energy, but also to assist in the tracking and monitoring of each solar panel for optimized efficiency.
Guy Sella will be missed and his contribution to propelling renewable energy will always be remembered.
